How to make homemade aloe vera moisturizer for dry skin, oily skin, acne, and hair? What are the good recipes we recommend? How to use them? Which aloe vera recipe to design an eye makeup remover? And finally what are the benefits of this cream?

I. How to Make Aloe Vera Moisturizer Step by Step

The moisturizing benefits of aloe vera are the fact that this plant is composed of more than 90% water. And to prepare a homemade aloe vera moisturizer, it is necessary to go through a few steps and use other ingredients complementary to our main substance.

1) How to Get the Gel from the Aloe Vera Plant?

It is obvious that to use or transform the pulp of aloe vera, it is previously useful to extract it from its leaf.

To do this, take the leaf and with a sharp tool remove the spines along the ends.

Then, cut the leaf in several pieces while throwing away its basic part and you put them in water for a few minutes to clean them from the relatively toxic latex.

Recover the pieces and peel them with a knife, put the extracted gel in a bowl of water to clean it definitively from the sap (for 1 minute only).

To be able to mix the aloe gel with other substances to conceive a moisturizing cream, it is beforehand good to liquefy it.

To do this, use a food processor.

Finally, if you do not use the liquid obtained as soon as this operation is finished, put it in the refrigerator to keep it well.

Let’s see the different recipes we recommend:

2) Recipe for Aloe Vera Cream, Black Cumin and Corn Starch

For the design of moisturizing cream for your skin and hair, we have chosen three very effective ingredients: aloe vera which is the moisturizing element, nigella, and starch which have other skin and hair benefits.

The quantities to use are measured as follows:

  • 15 ml of aloe vera pulp
  • 3 ml of black cumin oil
  • ¼ of cornstarch powder

Since the measurements are tiny, mix them, put them in a small bottle and stir them to homogenize the elements of the recipe.

It is possible to keep the cream for an amount of time of 2 months provided that you put it in the refrigerator.

3) Aloe Vera and Essential Tea Tree Oil

The tea tree is a tree from which essential oil is extracted that has skincare properties.

When it is mixed with aloe vera pulp, we obtain an effective and particularly hydrating cream.

For a complete recipe of hair, we add to the aloe and the essential oil of the tea tree, the water of rose.

We respect the following measures for a very practical mixture:

  • 4 drops of essential oil of tea tree
  • A spoon of rose water
  • 10 cl of aloe vera liquid

Mix in a bowl, with a spoon, the elements mentioned until obtaining a homogeneous mixture.

To apply it, you just have to spread it by massaging the seasoning with your hands or a brush on your hair.

4) Recipe of Aloe Vera and Thyme Honey

This recipe is used mainly as an antiseptic. It is not applied for moistening, but rather it could be used as an antibacterial mask.

To do this it will be mixed with thyme honey, a substance known for its healing effects, but also purifying.

The quantities to be respected to prepare an antibacterial mask:

  • 5 spoons of aloe vera
  • A spoon of honey of thyme

To have a very homogeneous mixture, mix the liquid of aloe vera with the honey of thyme by using a wooden utensil in a bowl.

5) Aloe Vera Gel and Vitamin E Oil

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that promotes the elasticity of the epidermis and fights aging and the appearance of wrinkles.

Therefore, adding it to aloe vera gel is a perfect recipe for skincare.

To make it, put 40 ml of aloe vera juice in a spray bottle, then add 3 drops of vitamin E and shake the mixture.

To preserve this preparation, check that the bottle is well sealed and then you keep it in the refrigerator.

6) Homemade Aloe Vera and Coconut Oil Moisturizer

The benefits of coconut oil on the skin are as virtuous and almost similar to those of aloe vera gel.

In addition to the hydration that is our main subject, this oil has other benefits on the skin, such as soothing irritations, softening the skin and wrinkles, etc.

In addition to the fact that coconut oil is a moisturizer, in essence, it is one of the best ingredients to combine with aloe vera to make a moisturizing cream.

For good effectiveness, we add in our recipe an essential oil while respecting the following measures:

  • A quarter of cup: gel of aloe vera
  • A quarter of cup: oil of coconut
  • 5 drops: essential oil (lavender for example)

Pour the 3 ingredients into an electric blender and turn it on for an amount of time. For later use, put the mixture in a well-closed tube that you will then put in a cool place.

  • 30 ml of almond oil
  • 10 ml of rose water

III. Different Uses of Homemade Aloe Vera Moisturizer

# Homemade Aloe Vera Moisturizer for Face

Using aloe vera on the face can help moisturize the skin. Regular application of a small amount of aloe vera on the face can help treat various skin conditions that sometimes affect the face, including acne, eczema, and sunburn.

Apply the cream to your face and let it sit for a few minutes to moisturize your skin.

# Homemade Aloe Vera Moisturizer for Dry Skin

The moisturizing properties of aloe vera are twofold. The aloe vera leaf is rich in water, especially in the innermost layer, which helps to moisturize the skin and lock in moisture.

Aloe vera increases the moisture content of the outermost layer of the skin making it an ideal ingredient for dry skin types.

Oily skin can leave a mark for a variety of reasons. Whether it’s due to sun exposure, acne, or the normal aging process, oily skin is often stubborn.

Aloe vera cream will help you remove all the stains infecting your skin.

IV. Why Use Aloe Vera Cream?

The use of aloe vera cream on the skin and hair brings considerable benefits to the latter and gives them a kind of dazzling shine not usual.

On the one hand, it offers deep and effective hydration on these two parts of the body. On the other hand, it looks after them and cures several imperfections and pathologies.

As a reminder, the plant in question is composed of 95% water, which allows it to have this hydration virtue.

# The Importance of Hydration for Hair and Skin

Poorly hydrated hair is generally dry, brittle, dull, swollen, and rough.

Dehydration is usually due to inadequate sebum secretion, but not only that since in some cases it is caused by sun exposure, lack of water in the body, etc.

The lack of water also affects the epidermis and for almost the same reasons as the hair. In short, when the skin is dry, it naturally produces less sebum than it needs, which causes the dehydration of the skin tissue.

Not only does aloe vera provide moisture upon application because it is full of water, but it also stimulates the production of the desired amount of sebum to allow for more natural hydration.

# Other Benefits of Applying Aloe Vera Cream

Beyond the moisturizing benefits of aloe vera cream, it contains nutrients that give it other therapeutic and cosmetic capabilities.

These are concentrated mainly on the skin and hair.

Some of the concerns that aloe vera cream treats:

  • The attenuation of wrinkles and the slowing down of the aging of the skin
  • Healing of burns and wounds
  • Healing of wounds and irritations
  • Relief of itching and sunburn
  • Regulation of sebum secretion
  • Treatment of the hair and its beautification
  • Soothing of the scalp and strengthening of the hair

V. How to Use Natural Preservatives to Extend the Shelf Life of Aloe Vera Gel

To extend the amount of time the aloe vera gel can be stored you can use natural preservatives like vitamins C and E.

You can also add a few drops of grapefruit seed extract. It is also recommended to store in the refrigerator to make the aloe vera gel last.

VI. What Are the Side Effects of Aloe Vera?

In general, no. Aloe vera, as mentioned, is an incredible moisturizer and anti-inflammatory, but you should always do a patch test before applying it all over your skin, just to make sure you don’t have a negative reaction.

It can cause redness, burning, stinging, and, rarely, generalized dermatitis in sensitive individuals.

Allergic reactions are primarily due to anthraquinones, such as aloin and barbaloin.

Again, this is not common, but a reaction is not impossible either.

Of course, if you use a commercial gel containing artificial fragrance or irritating preservatives, these additives can also cause a reaction.

We should also caution you against drinking the juice or consuming the gel – while using aloe topically is considered safe, ingesting aloe internally raises many health concerns.
